Drug addicts in Caloocan City who wish to turn over a new leaf can undergo rehabilitation at a state of the art facility funded by the local government.

Mayor Oscar Malapitan on October 19 led the inauguration of Kanlunga, the first rehabilitation complex in the country funded by a local government.

Kanlungan will offer residential treatment, reformation under Balay Silangan program, outpatient services, and a community-based rehab pod.

The rehabilitation complex can accommodate up to 100 patients.

Malapitan said the construction of Kanlungan is part of the city’s campaign against illegal drugs.

We believe that drug dependents are not criminals, they’re victims,” he said.
