Mag-retire na kayo! Isko Moreno tells Erap, Fred Lim to give way to younger leaders
Former Manila vice mayor Isko Moreno has urged incumbent Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada and former mayor Alfredo Lim to let a younger leader be at the helm of the city next year.
Moreno told the 81-year-old Estrada and 88-year-old Lim to retire since he will be running against them for mayor in the 2019 elections.
Addressing the two politikos, Moreno said: “Napagbigyan na po namin kayo. Nakapagparaya na kami not once, but twice. It’s time for them to retire.”
The former vice mayor noted that some of Metro Manila’s prosperous cities, such as Valenzuela, Quezon and Pasig, are led by young politikos.
Asked what the advantages of having a younger leader are, Moreno said: “Siguro una nakakaikot, pag nakakaikot ang isang local na pamahalaan siya na mismo ang nakakaalam ng tunay na katayuan ng mga kalye, eskinita, highway at iba kumunidad sa loob ng kanyang siyudad. Pangalawa, hindi siya mato-tolongges.”
Moreno will be running alongside incumbent Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna under the local party Asenso Manileño.
