Campus journalists and trainers in Caloocan City were profuse in their gratitude to Mayor Oscar Malapitan for the support he gave in preparing for the National Capital Region Schools Press Conference.

Backed by financial support from Malapitan, Caloocan City ranked first runner up in the writing tilt due to the victories they racked up in the individual and group categories.

At least 86 elementary and high schools students from Caloocan won, beating other representatives from 17 cities and municipality in NCR.

Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Cecille Carandang said the campus journalists were inspired to do their best in the contest in part due to the support given by the mayor.

“First time in the history that the Local Government of Caloocan shoulder everything for Journalism contest. Mayor Oca showed confidence to our young journalists by supporting them from series of trainings up to the day of the contest,” she said.

The first to third placers in the competition will represent the NCR in the National Schools Press Conference and Contest to be held in Lingayen, Pangasinan.
