Metro Manila malls to open at 11 a.m. starting November as MMDA braces for Christmas shopping rush
Mall operators in Metro Manila have agreed to adjust their operating hours starting next month in anticipation of the heavy traffic caused by the holidays, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Monday.
MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago told Super Radyo dzBB that malls along EDSA, Libis, Marcos Highway and Commonwealth Avenue will open at 11 a.m. from November 5, 2018 to January 14, 2019.
However, she said it will be up to the malls to determine what time they will close down.
To ease traffic jams over the holiday season, mall sales will not be held during weekdays. Obstructions at loading and unloading stations within the malls’ vicinities will be removed by MMDA personnel.
MMDA will also implement a moratorium on on road works, with the exception for government flagship projects and/or during emergency cases.
