Caloocan Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan went around the city on Saturday to inspect the damage caused by Typhoon Ompong.
One of the areas Malapitan visited was Barangay 102 along 9th Avenue, where a security guard was crushed to death when a concrete wall collapsed on him earlier in the day.
The guard, identified as Domingo Peñaflor, 58, was on duty when the tragedy happened.
Joining Malapitan in the visit were Councilor Rose Mercado and employees from the Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management of the city.
Following the inspection, the mayor instructed the Caloocan City Risk Reduction and Management Office and other departments involved in delivery of basic and vital services to remain alert until the situation normalizes.
