Bagong Binay ang iboboto! Makati residents prefer Abby over Junjun in 2019
Makati City Mayor Abby Binay appears to have won her constituents over already even though she’s just on her first term at the city hall.
A survey conducted by Pulse Asia among Makati City residents showed Abby winning by a landslide over all possible opponents— including her brother, former Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay— in the upcoming polls.
According to the survey, nearly seven out of 10 Makati residents or 69 percent will vote for Abby if she were to face off against Junjun in the 2019 elections.
Only 21 percent will vote for the former Makati mayor while the remaining 10 percent of respondents either do not know who to vote for or do not have a choice.
In case of a three-way fight involving former Vice Mayor Romulo “Kid” Peña, Abby will still win a second term with 65 percent of respondents saying they will vote for her.
Only 17 percent will choose her brother while 13 percent will vote for Peña.
The results for a three-way fight involving Ricky Yabut, son of former Mayor Nemesio Yabut, also showed Abby as the clear winner.
If Yabut runs, he will only get four percent of votes. Abby, meanwhile will get 67 percent and Junjun, 20 percent.
Pulse Asia conducted the commissioned survey from August 17 to 23 using face to face interviews with 1,200 Makati residents. The poll has a margin of error of plus/minus 3 percent.
Abby has acknowledged the possibility she will run against Junjun in 2019 in a recent forum.
However, she said her reelection bid has the blessing of her father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay.
