Fresh start! QC gov’t, Pasig rehab body relocate 34 informal settler families from creek
Thirty-four informal settler families (ISFs) living along the stretch of Ermitaño Creek in Barangay Damayang Lagi, Quezon City have been relocated to Rizal on Tuesday.
The families were relocated to the St. Martha housing project by the National Housing Authority in Morong, Rizal, said Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC) Executive Director Jose Antonio “Pepeton” Goitia.
The relocation was led by the PRRC in cooperation with the local government of Quezon City and the Local Inter-Agency Committee of Quezon City (LIAC-QC).
Before leaving their old homes, the families received food supplies such as rice, canned goods and coffee and P2,000 each, courtesy of Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista.
The NHA also gave a P1,000 financial assistance to the families.
PRRC, meanwhile provided trucks and vans to ensure the speedy and safe transfer of the families to Rizal.
The families will receive an additional P18,000 each fromthe Department of Interior and Local Government.
