What a weakling! Akbayan rep tells Duterte: Don’t drag the country into your paranoia

Akbayan party-list Rep. Tom Villarin on Sunday slammed President Rodrigo Duterte for claiming that the alleged plot to oust him from office will intensify in October.

Villarin said it was “sickening” to hear Duterte engage in a blame game while Filipinos have to deal with rising prices of basic goods.

“President Duterte should not drag the entire nation into his paranoia owing to his own callousness and incompetence when it comes to the economy,” he said in a statement.

On Saturday, Duterte claimed that the “Yellows” are working with the communists and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to oust him.

“‘Yang tatlong ‘yan, bantayan ninyo. Iyan yung mag-a-oust na — oust Duterte and it will go into a higher October ganun,” he said.

Villarin slammed Duterte for focusing attention on securing the presidency despite the various economic problems facing the country.

He said it was no wonder that “less and less Filipinos” trust Duterte, after Social Weather Stations released a survey showing the President’s trust rating had fallen from +65 in March to +57 in June.

“Now it appears that the strongman has turned into a weak leader losing control, rambling and scrambling for escape and excuses instead of finding solutions,” Villarin said.
