An old friend and a new ally are equally influential in her career.

Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte started her Wednesday with words of gratitude, where she revealed the two biggest influences in her politiko life.

Belmonte went to acknowledge Mayor Herbert Bautista, who apparently convinced her to run for office in Quezon City.

“While we have had disagreements during our working relationship, he has always had my back as he promised almost ten years ago, and I will forever be grateful to him,” Belmonte said about her tag team partner for three terms now.

A new addition is Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, which may come as a surprise to many.

Belmonte had supported the Liberal Party in 2016, but joined the ruling PDP Laban soon after. Now, she has aligned with the Hugpong ng Pagbabago which Inday Sara built.

“Her message was one of unity and cooperation. It was never about herself. It was all about improving the lives of our people. Sara is the epitome of Tapang at Malasakit. An inspiration and role model for a new generation of leaders,” Belmonte added.
