Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista has called on the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to set deadlines for the completion of flood control projects in Metro Manila as debates continue on local government units’ (LGUs) protocols for class suspensions.

During the Metro Manila Council’s meeting on August 7, Bautista said LGUs also have to consider ongoing infrastructure projects in deciding whether classes should be suspended during inclement weather.

Binabalanse dapat natin lahat,” he said.

Among the national government’s major infrastructure projects in Quezon City include: the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) line 7, Manila North Expressway, Visayas Avenue Extension, Mega Manila Subway project, monorail loop, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line 7, C-6 Expressway, Skyway 3, MRT 8, BRT line 1, BRT line 3, Novaliches-Balara aqueduct 4 (NBAQ4), and Ateneo-Miriam-C.P Garcia viaduct.

Mayors in Metro Manila were recently criticized for belatedly suspending classes during bad weather.
