Di healthy: No to junk food, sugary drinks in QC
A very important task awaits newly elected barangay officials in Quezon City. The city health department of Quezon City recently conducted a three-day orientation on the Anti-Junk Food and Sugary Drinks Ordinance to promote public awareness on importance of keeping a healthy diet among children.
Dr. Maria Lourdes Eleria, from the city health department, said the orientation involved barangay officials and school teachers who would take charge of the implementation of the ordinance in the respective communities.
“We are not only talking to school officials, but also to barangay officials to ensure the measure would be strictly implemented at the grassroots level,” Eleria said.
City Ordinance 2579 was signed in August 2017 in a bid to promote the health and welfare of the people, especially the children.
The city government is set to conduct another orientation for barangay officials on health and school representatives next month.
