Uy libre! Soldiers to get free train ride starting April 25

All active military personnel will get to enjoy free rides at the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT3) starting Wednesday (April 25).

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced the good news Monday citing a memorandum of agreement to be signed between the MRT-3 management and the Armed Forces of the Philippines along with transportation officials.

This service is in recognition of the sacrifices of the military for the country.

“Validity of the service shall last for one year,” the DOTr said.

Soldiers only need to show their identification cards to be able to avail the free ride.

“Isa sa pinakamahirap na tungkilin ang maging sundalo. Maliit na pabor lamang ito bilang pasasalamat sa kanilang sakripisyo at pagmamahal sa bayan,” Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said.

In return, the AFP will provide the MRT3 with ambulance and medical teams during emergency and crisis situations.
