Albayalde promises no ‘bata-bata’ system in choosing successor
Outgoing National Capital Region Police Office chief Oscar Albayalde vowed to pick the best person to succeed him.
Albayalde has yet to choose his successor but he said that he would definitely not adopt the “bata-bata” or patronage system in making a decision.
“Wala pa as of this time. Nasa vetting process pa tayo,” he said.
“Bago ako mag-assume, meron na rin ma-a-appoint and hindi lang naman siguro basta ako lang ang mag-appoint. We need to talk this out, sabi ko nga, masama naman kung ako lang ang magde-decide dito. Parang lumalabas mawala ‘yung bata-bata system. Si Presidente nga hindi niya in-adopt ‘yung bata-bata system eh tapos tayo pa,” he added.
Albayalde is set to take over the helm of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on April 19.
He will succeed Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa who will move to the Bureau of Corrections as director general.
President Duterte earlier said that he chose Albayalde because he was “strict”.
Reacting to his appointment, Albayalde said that he was surprised with the President’s decision considering that he was not from Davao.
Albayalde is a Kapampangan. He previously headed the Pampanga provincial police.
