Laki gastos tapos ‘di tuloy! Comelec spends P700 million for polls preparations
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) admitted Wednesday that it had spent more than P700 million in preparations for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
“More than P700 million, we have to finalize accounting,” said Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez.
Despite the expenses, Jimenez said the Comelec still welcomed the decision of President Duterte to postpone the elections.
Duterte has signed into law Republic Act 10952 postponing again the scheduled barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections on October 23 to May 2018.
Jimenez said adjustments will be made to the Comelec’s preparations considering the new date of the polls.
He said appropriate instructions, directives, and guidelines will be given to their personnel following the President’s order.
