Taguig launches hotline vs child abusers
The Taguig city government has launched an emergency hotline to enable residents to report any form of abuse against children, Mayor Lani Cayetano said on Tuesday.
Through the hotline (0937-587-0000), Cayetano said residents will be able to report any looming threat to children, which in turn will enable city authorities to respond faster.
The emergency hotline was launched simultaneously with the Taguig Comprehensive Youth Welfare, Protection, and Development Program.
The program aims to protect the youth from specific dangers to their health, welfare, and well-being such as cybersex and sexual exploitation, teenage pregnancy, drugs, bullying, and smoking.
Cayetano said the city government has always been “dedicated and aggressive” in addressing the issues faced by children through the continuous implementation of programs to uplift and improve their lives.
“We believe that the young generation is a gift from the Lord, so we need to prepare and protect them, and therefore we will also need the support of our hardworking employees in attaining this goal,” the mayor added.
