Throwback: Herbert Bautista recalls tibak days on 49th birthday
This politiko already wanted free basic services as early as his days as a student leader.
Actor turned Quezon City Mayor Herbert “Bistek” Bautista developed a passion for public service early on, with him having led the student body of San Beda’s College of Arts and Sciences as a teenager.
He recalled his days as an activist and student-leader as he turned 49 on Friday, May 12. On the same league back then were former Caloocan Councilor Nat Santiago and ex-Congressman turned Environment Secretary Mike Defensor, who teamed up with Bautista to lobby against tuition fee hike petitions before the now-defunct Department of Education, Culture and Sports.
Decades later, the three remain in key leadership positions. Happy birthday, Mayor Bistek!
