Winnie hails Digong appointments a day after joining PDP-Laban
President Duterte’s four new appointments to the Cabinet are fine addition and an injection of new blood to the executive branch,
Quezon City Rep. Winston “Winnie” Castelo on Thursday, May 11 only had good things to say about President Rodrigo Duterte’s four new appointments to the Cabinet.
Castelo said the appointments of Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano as Foreign Affairs Secretary, former AFP Chief of Staff Roy Cimatu as Environment Secretary, current AFP Chief of Staff, Gen. Eduardo Año as DILG Secretary and singer-blogger Mocha Uson as Assistant Secretary for Communications add new dimension to governance and present a diversity of views and approaches as the administration enters its second year.
“The President is creating dynamics in the Cabinet to make way for more creative and effective execution of his policies and programs – one that suits his style and philosophy,” Castelo said.
On Wednesday, May 10, Castelo joined nine fellow House members in making the jump to ruling party PDP-Laban. Five of the 10 came from the Liberal Party (LP), with Castelo being the most senior LP member to make the switch.
Castelo said the President’s choices for the Cabinet posts are “well within his reform agenda.”
