1,000 formal attire cops, snipers deployed to Miss Universe pageant

Over 1,000 policemen and snipers will be deployed to the SM Mall of Asia Arena (MOA) in Pasay City for the Miss Universe coronation on January 30.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Oscar Albayalde, said all cops will be wearing barong and black suits.

Some 100 policemen will be positioned inside the arena, 353 at the lobby and 650 at various checkpoints in the area.

Several K-9 units will also patrol the arena premises.

Albayalde said that two teams of snipers composed of three personnel each would be deployed during the pageant. Five X-ray machines will also be installed at the gates.

Cell phone signals won’t be cut off during the event to avoid miscommunication between the pageant organizers and police.

Police officers are not allowed to take selfies with the candidates during the pageant, the NCRPO chief said.
