Alisto! Metro Manila cops on full alert after Davao explosion
The National Capital Regional Police Office is on full alert following Friday night’s bloody explosion at the Roxas District night market in Davao killing at least 15 people while scores were seriously injured.
NCRPO Chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde said he has ordered five district directors, namely Southern Police District, Manila Police, Northern Police, Quezon City Police and Eastern Police Districts and the Regional Public Safety Battalion to stay on alert and maintain 24/7 checkpoints in Metro Manila.
Aside from checkpoints, battle-ready policemen were deployed to public places including malls, banks, gasoline stations, schools, bus terminals, air and sea ports.
Police asked for the public’s cooperation and understanding as the tight security measures are all for their welfare and safety.
Early Saturday, September 3, President Rodrigo Duterte declared a “state of lawlessness” in the country which he said is not the same as martial law, but only to ensure “coordinated efforts” between the police and the military in the government’s fight against terrorism and illegal drugs.
