No showbiz figures in illegal drug trade – NCRPO
No showbiz personalities were involved in the illegal drug trade, National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) director Chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde said yesterday.
Albayalde made the announcement following the arrest of disc jockey and showbiz personality Karen Bordador and her boyfriend Emilio Lim, 32, during a drug bust in Pasig City recently.
Reports reaching NCRPO revealed that no actors and personalities in the entertainment or showbiz industry have been into illegal drug trade.
However, the NCRPO chief said they will still deploy police personnel in upscale bars at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig and in Makati City to monitor rampant use of Ecstasy and other party drugs in such places.
Albayalde said owners of high-end bars and clubs agreed to cooperate with the NCRPO’s campaign to weed out the use of Ecstasy and other party drugs.
“They are very willing to sign a memorandum of agreement to the effect of allowing plainclothes policemen conduct surveillance operations inside their establishments,” he said.
