Belmonte LOLs at ‘special ops’ rumor vs. Poe, Binay
House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte has dismissed the rumor about the Liberal Party’s supposed “black operations” to have Vice President Jejomar Binay and Senator Grace Poe disqualified from the 2016 presidential race, which was bared by the Manila Times.
Belmonte, the LP’s general campaign manager, described the report as “ridiculous.”
It’s not true. Ridiculous. Regarding Grace, (the) Ombudsman has no say. Regarding Binay, I’m sure he has powerful lawyers with influence in the Ombudsmans office,” he said.
Quoting an anonymous source, the Manila Times reported that the LP has tapped lawyers Avelino “Nonong” Cruz and former Ombudsman Simeon Marcelo, formerly of the defunct Carpio Villaraza Angangco or “The Firm”, to devise ways to have Binay and Poe declared ineligible to run for president to ensure an easy win for administration bearer Mar Roxas.
The plan supposedly involves having Binay jailed over the corruption allegations filed against him, and having Poe disqualified due for her alleged failure to prove she is a natural-born Filipino.
