Patay tayo dyan! MMDA collects 142 trucks of garbage in cemeteries

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has collected 142 truckloads of garbage from 26 cemeteries in Metro Manila.

MMDA Metro Parkway Clearing Group Chief Francis Martinez said that the 419 tons of garbage were collected during a clean-up from October 26 to 31.

According to Martinez, MMDA is expecting the volume of garbage to increase as people trooped to cemeteries on Sunday as well and as today, All Souls’ Day.

He said that the MMDA is set to resume its cleaning operations after today’s observance of All Souls’ Day.

Martinez, however, said that that the volume of trash left by people in cemeteries decreased this year as compared to last year’s 139 truckloads of garbage, which include styrofoam, boxes, plastic bags and cups, and paper.
