Junket para sa budget? Vico Sotto questions Pasig City Council’s Bohol trip to pass 2019 funding
Pasig Councilor Vico Sotto has expressed surprise at the City Council’s decision to defer the passage of the city’s P10.7-billion budget for 2019 until another hearing is conducted in Bohol.
In a Facebook post, Sotto shared his puzzlement when the 2019 annual budget ordinance wasn’t passed during the city council’s meeting Thursday at the city hall.
The 29-year-old councilor said he wanted to ask some clarificatory questions about the ordinance first but supported its passage.
“Nagulat ako nung hindi nagkaroon ng 3rd/final reading. Pagkatapos ng session, may city employee na nagtanong sa kin kung sasama ba daw ako sa BOHOL. Pupunta daw silang lahat sa Bohol kinabukasan, at doon gaganapin ang isa pang budget hearing para sa final approval ng 2019 budget,” he said.
As proof that the Bohol trip was legitimate, Sotto posted a photo of the calendar of business dated November 10 for a special session of the city council in the province.
Included in the agenda was the annual budget ordinance for 2019.
Did members of the city council fail to inform Sotto of the trip or did they want to make sure he wouldn’t be in Bohol for the budget ordinance’s passage?
And why did the budget have to be approved out of the city hall?
