They paid homage to the city’s urban legend.

Councilor Charisse Abalos-Vargas felt proud after residents of barangays along the Pasig River worked to give the city’s borders a new look.

The politiko shared the brightly-painted walls that paid homage to Manda and Luyong, who are said to be the inspiration behind their city’s name.

“Mandaluyong was founded in the love between 2 brave people. It’s just right that we extend the same love to our natural resources,” Abalos said.

Legend says these two lovers went through a difficult courtship and eventually settled at this area once the Manda’s father, a chieftain, approved of their relationship.

What a beautiful sight!
