No need to line up at the market! Winnie Castelo brings NFA rice to barangays
Instead of letting his constituents from District 2 line up for hours for affordable rice from the National Food Authority (NFA), Quezon City Rep. Winston Castelo instead brought sacks of the staple to the barangays over the weekend.
Castelo even scooped rice for the residents during the activity called “NFA rice on wheels” in Barangays Commonwealth and San Bartolome.
Two varieties of NFA rice are sold in the market for P27 and P32.
In a Facebook post, Castelo said lowering the prices of basic goods like rice will help bring inflation down.
“We can maintain it (rice) at 27 pesos per kilo if we flood the market with that amount,” he said.
