No need to flee! Tents in Taguig evacuation centers unused during ‘Ompong’
The tents put up by the local government of Taguig City in preparation for Typhoon Ompong were unused Saturday because there was no need for residents to evacuate.
Mayor Lani Cayetano and her brother-in-law, former Taguig City Rep. Lino Cayetano, inspected the empty tents at the Hagonoy Gymnasium when they went around the city to check on the situation Saturday afternoon.
Since evacuation was unnecessary, the relief goods placed at the evacuation centers were also untouched.
The local government bought the tents to give families privacy even when they are in evacuation centers during disasters.
In a Facebook post, the Taguig City Public Information Office expressed hope that the weather will improve in the coming days.
