Magdadasal lang! Ex-VP Binay seeks court’s nod for Italian pilgrimage
Former Vice President Jejomar Binay has asked the Sandiganbayan to allow him to join his wife, former Makati City mayor Elenita Binay, in her pilgrimage to Italy.
In his motion to travel, Mr. Binay asked that he be allowed to go to Italy from Sept. 28 to Oct. 13.
“There is necessity for movant to travel to Italy for his spiritual endeavors. It is very important to note that movant is a devout Catholic who places great important to his spiritual health,” read his motion.
During his trip, Binay said he and his wife plan to go to Rome, Assissi, Padova, Venice, Turin and Florence.
Mr. Binay is facing charges before the Sandiganbayan over his involvement in the alleged anomalous construction of the Makati City Hall Parking Building and the Makati Science High School.
Mrs. Binay has also sought permission from the Sandiganbayan to be allowed to travel to Italy.
She is facing charges in connection with the anomalous purchase of P45 million worth of hospital beds and sterilizers for the Ospital ng Makati in 2001.
