Like Marikina, Makati: Navotas uses modular tents for ‘Habagat’ victims
Navotas City proved it could go head to head with other bigger cities in Metro Manila when it comes to disaster response during the most recent onslaught of “habagat” or southwest monsoon.
Just like the cities of Marikina and Makati, Navotas also used modular tents to shelter evacuees who were displaced by the flooding caused by the monsoon rains over the weekend.
The tents were made of canvas, which were held together by a wire. It does not have a roof.
Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco visited the evacuees living in the tents last Monday at the Tangos 1 Elementary School.
He asked how they were doing and helped distribute relief items and medicines.
Inside the tents, the families looked more organized and comfortable as they had their own space.
