4 upscale Makati villages declared ‘drug-free’
Four Makati villages where the richest Filipinos live have been declared free of drugs.
The Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug-Clearing Program certified the absence of illegal drugs in Barangays Forbes Park, San Lorenzo, Urdaneta and Magallanes.
Officials of the concerned barangays were recognized during the August 1 meeting of Makati City’s Peace and Order Council.
Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay lauded the barangay officials for their efforts in ensuring the villages are free of illegal drugs.
“It is a difficult task that calls for genuine commitment to duty and strong leadership, and I hope the barangay chiefs of the remaining barangays will be motivated to replicate their achievement,” she said.
The Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug-Clearing Program is composed of representatives from, among others, the Pilippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Health (DOH), and local government units.
