After Bourdain’s death, Joy Belmonte eyes QC’s own suicide hotline
This politiko knows that mental health is a serious matter.
Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte is heartbroken to hear about the deaths of designer Kate Spade and food and travel storyteller Anthony Bourdain. More than the celebrity lives lost, the politiko worries that their passing could trigger more suicides from fans and spectators alike.
“We in the Philippines are not spared from this increasing global trend. Perhaps our City can establish a Helpline similar to ones in the US and other countries w growing suicide rates,” Belmonte wrote.
“Now, I’m sure everyone is convinced depression when unheeded can lead to suicide. It is a public health issue and government needs to step up its efforts,” she added.
