Berna Romulo Puyat to to take oath as Tourism Secretary after barangay polls
Tourism Secretary Bernadette “Berna” Romulo Puyat will take her oath Monday evening in Malacañang (May 13), barely a week after she was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Duterte will fly to Manila from Davao City to administer Puyat’s oath.
The event comes after the President skipped voting in the barangay elections in Davao City, the first polls under his term.
Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go said there was “no reason” why Duterte failed to cast his vote at the Daniel Aguinaldo High School.
Puyat , who replaced resigned Secretary Wanda Tulfo Teo, comes from the well-known political clan of the Romulos.
Her father is former Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo. A brother, Roman, used to be the congressman of Pasig City.
