Walang bata-bata: Albayalde says being his classmate won’t guarantee promotion in PNP
Just like President Duterte, newly-installed Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said he will not tolerate political patronage or “palakasan” in the PNP.
Albayalde said this as he is set to make his decision on several promotions and transfers in his office.
He vowed to be impartial saying that his decision will be based on the recommendations of an oversight committee tasked to study the applications for promotion and requests for transfer to other positions.
Albayalde noted it is “normal” for some officials particularly his classmates from the Philippine Military Academy Sinagtala Class of 1986 to request for promotion, but his close relationship with them won’t guarantee them for any post.
“That’s very normal. It’s just like you are more than brothers,” he said.
He stressed that the officials will still be assessed based on their qualifications and capacity.
“If they are still not qualified, then we will not force it,” said Albayalde.
He reiterated that what he wants from police officers is obedience and not loyalty.
“We expect obedience. We expect everybody to toe the line,” he said.
