Ambush! 4 cops wounded in NPA attack in Antipolo
Four police officers were wounded after a surprise attack by suspected members of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) in Antipolo City on Sunday.
Radio reports said the ambush occurred early Sunday morning leaving four members of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) injured.
The SAF members were reportedly on a mobile patrol vehicle when still unidentified armed men suddenly fired shots at them in the area of Barangay San Jose.
Police have set up checkpoints and increased visibility in the area to capture the suspects.
President Duterte earlier offered to give P25,000 bounty for every dead member of the NPA.
This was in response to the threat of Communist Party of the Philippine (CPP) founder Joma Sison to have the NPA kill one soldier a day to force the government to resume peace talks with the Reds.
