Guess who’s the preferred successor of San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez?
San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez has yet to step down from office but she already has someone in mind to succeed her.
Gomez said she is willing to support her current vice mayor Janella Estrada if the latter decides to run in the 2019 elections.
Janella, better known as Jel among her constituents, is the eldest daughter of former Senator Jinggoy Estrada.
Gomez, mother of Estrada’s half brother Senator JV Ejercito, has developed a good working relationship with Jel during the past two years of ruling San Juan.
Gomez on Thursday refused to step down and asserted that she would finish her term until June 2019 amid looming recall elections in her city.
She chided former vice mayor Francis Zamora saying that her family was not an “ingrate” and it was the Zamoras who severed their long-standing political ties with the Estradas and Ejercitos.
“Kami po ba ang inggrato gaya ng paratang nila? For 30 years, I have worked for Congressman Zamora and he knows that. In fact, many times he would say he owes it to the Estradas ang kaniyang pagka-congressman,” she said referring to Zamora’s father Ronaldo Zamora, who formerly served as executive secretary of former President Joseph Estrada.
“And many times he would say he owes it even more to me who would wake up 2 o’clock in the morning, 3 o’clock in the morning just to make katok, make pakiusap na iboto po ninyo ang isang Ronnie Zamora kasi magaling ‘yan, iyan ay bar topnotcher,” she added.
