Zarate echoes calls for sacked DAP prexy’s ‘minions’ to be fired, too

Bayan Muna partylist Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate on Saturday echoed calls by employees of the Development Academy of the Philippines for the dismissal of the close associates of former DAP president Elba Cruz, who was terminated last December.

In a statement, the Makabayan lawmaker said Cruz’ “minions” should also be fired for “supposedly “using their positions to harass and intimidate” DAP employees critical of Cruz.

He identified them as Senior Vice President for Resource Administration Dr. Fabian Go, Atty. Crisostomo Uribe, the chief legal counsel and Dr. Emmanuel Silan, the DAP human resource head.

Zarate also called for the reinstatement of the employees who were reportedly terminated by the Cruz clique for exercising their freedom of expression and right of assembly.

“Since the employees submitted a petition to President Rodrigo Duterte asking for the relief of Atty. Cruz whose holdover tenure expired last June 30, efforts have been exerted by DAP management to discredit, silence and curtail the legitimate expression of dissent by its employees,” he said.

“These tactics that have been described by the employees as ‘classic reactionary moves’ are intended to create disunity among them and to muddle the real issues,” Zarate said.

“We hope that the plea of the employees would be answered and the some one who understands the premier research and training institution as well as the plight and struggle of the Filipino people would be the one to lead it,” he said.
