Several top police officers and investigators were instrumental in finding Ica Policarpio, the 17-year-old girl who went missing just four days before Christmas.

Bea Policarpio, Ica’s older sister, revealed in a statement released Tuesday (December 26) that top officials from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and investigators from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) “risked their lives in the search for [Ica].”

Among these cops were NCRPO chief Oscar Albayalde and Southern Police District director Chief Supt. Tomas Apolinario who maintained contact with the Policarpio family while Ica was missing.

NBI director Dante Gierran and deputy director Eric Distor also helped the Policarpios find Ica from the start of their ordeal until the end.

Ica’s older sister gave a special shoutout to Presidential Commission on Good Government commissioner Rey Bulay for accompanying their family, especially Policarpio patriarch Rufino.

Bea said their family is thankful for PNP Region IV Director PCSupt Ma. O. Aplasca, PNP Provincial Director Rhoderick Armamento, PNP Lucena Chief of Police Reynaldo Maclang, and PNP San Pablo City Chief of Police Gil Torralba.

She thanked Muntinlupa police chief PSSupt. Dante Novicio who travelled with his team to San Pablo, Laguna to search with the Policarpio family.

She also expressed gratitude toward Lucena, Quezon’s police forces who searched their area when the family’s first leads pointed them there.

Bea said she is also grateful for “the multitude of kind-hearted police and NBI agents whose names we could not all possibly mention.”

“Thank you to the entire PNP led by PNP Chief Gen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa,” she said.

Ica went missing on December 21, and was last seen at a coffee shop in Muntinlupa.

Her sister said she was found on the morning of Christmas eve in Barangay IIB San Pablo City after being spotted by a certain “Manny” who reported to barangay captain Leonardo Villanueva and kagawad Emma Cervana.

Villanueva and Cervana took Ica to their home, where the Policarpios reunited with the 17-year-old.
