Tugna: Fight against corruption in PH far from over
The fight against corruption in the Philippines is far from over, CIBAC partylist Rep. Sherwin Tugna said in a message during the celebration of the International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9.
“Corruption is a serious crime that can undermine social and economic development in all societies,” he said, adding that, “Our country is not immune from this.”
“We have recognized the existence of corruption in our government and have addressed this by enactment of various laws such as Republic Act 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act), plunder law, Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees,” Tugna said.
“In the past, we were able to punish corrupt officials. But the fight is far from over,” said Tugna, the chairman of the House committee on suffrage and electoral reforms.
“We can fight corruption if we all do our part. Let us not stop but persevere in ensuring that we have a better future for our children and grandchildren,” he said.
