Abby Binay stops dengue vaccines in Makati after Sanofi scare

Students who received the vaccine will also be monitored by city health officers.

Mayor Abigail “Abby” Binay has ordered the suspension of Makati’s anti-dengue vaccine program after news that it could pose more harm to its recipients came out.

The Food and Drug Administration has ordered the recall of Dengvaxia from stores after French pharmaceutical firm Sanofi announced that it could worsen the disease for people who have not yet suffered dengue.

However, Binay said Makati will continue administering vaccinations for Japanese Encephalitis.

Better to be safe than sorry!
