Para sure na safe lahat! Erap orders early preparation for Black Nazarene feast
To ensure the smooth conduct of the annual Black Nazarene procession, Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada has ordered concerned local officials to begin their preparations at this early.
Estrada has tasked the barangay officials in Quiapo to lead the early planning and preparations for the Traslacion or the Black Nazarene feast, which draws millions of devotees every year.
“This early, we should start drawing up plans and contingencies and this must start in the grassroots level, in the barangays. The earlier, the better,” the politiko said.
He directed the Quiapo officials to map out security and traffic plans which will serve as a guide for the city’s inter-agency peace and order council as well as concerned national government agencies.
Quiapo consists of 36 barangays.
The Feast of the Black Nazarene is an annual religious event where a life-sized statue of a suffering Jesus fallen under the weight of the cross is paraded from Rizal Park to Quiapo Church.
Procrastination is not in Erap’s vocabulary!
