Mark Villar thanks Ping for exposing ‘pork’ in DPWH budget; Kahit apektado right-of-way fund

Despite the Department of Public Works and Highways’ facing cuts in its budget for next year, Secretary Mark Villar has thanked Sen. Panfilo Lacson for exposing the “pork” in the agency’s 2018 budget.

Lacson disclosed this Monday after speaking with Villar before the start of the Senate’s regular session.

“He was explaining to me. Sabi ko magkakampi tayo rito because alam kong nape-pressure ka rin ng mga legislators. And he acknowledged it,” Lacson told reporters.

“Sabi niya maraming salamat nga rin,” he added of Villar.

Lacson had come under fire from some fellow lawmakers for pushing for a P50.8-billion cut in the DPWH budget for 2018.

His proposed cuts involved unresolved right-of-way issues in infrastructure projects.
