Magdalo: Are Duterte’s attacks against the Left a prelude to ‘RevGov’?
Magdalo partylist Rep. Gary Alejano is doubtful about President Rodrigo Duterte’s “seeming antagonism and alienation” toward the Communist Party-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front, as it seems out of tune with the actions of his administrations.
He raised fears that this might just be a plot to establish a revolutionary government.
“The seeming antagonism and alienation towards the CPP-NPA-NDF would, needless to say, result to more and intensified NPA attacks which President Duterte will take advantage of and use to justify the grand scheme of establishing a revolutionary government,” said Alejano, a Magnificent 7 lawmaker.
“Wittingly or unwittingly, the communists could be part of this scheme. The repeated threats of declaring a revolutionary government by the President, his continuing relationship with the CPP-NPA-NDF, and the disjoint and disparate policy against communist rebels are something to be wary about,” he said.
Alejano said he received information that in fact, “back door negotiations between the peace panels have continued even after President Duterte discredited the importance of pursing peace talks with the communist groups.”
“It is puzzling that while President Duterte is lambasting the CPP-NPA in public, back door negotiations with the NDF continue,” he said.
