Umaalingasaw ang baho! Echiverri slapped with graft corruption-tainted sewage project
Former Caloocan City mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri has been charged with three more counts of graft for skipping public bidding in several projects.
The Office of the Ombudsman filed the charges after finding probable cause to indict Echiverri.
The Ombudsman also named as Echiverri’s co-accused, former city accountant Edna Centeno and former city budget officer Jesus Garcia, both of whom were also charged with falsification of public documents.
Under one of the charges, Echiverri was accused of giving unwarranted benefit to contractor P.B. Grey Construction which he picked to do the P19.3-million drainage improvement in Barangay 177 which lasted from 2010 to 2011.
He also allegedly gave the same unwarranted benefit to Red Scorpion Construction Supply which was awarded the P1.6 million drainage improvement project in Barangay 64 from 2012 to 2013.
Echiverri also entered a memorandum of agreement with Beneficial Life Insurance Co. to provide life insurance to barangay disaster volunteers amounting to P34.4 million in 2013.
