Starting over again? Duterte reappoints 2 resigned Customs officials to DOTr

President Rodrigo Duterte appointed two Bureau of Customs officials to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) who resigned amid a congressional probe into a P6.4 billion shabu shipment into the Philippines from China.
Duterte designated former Customs Import Assessment Services director Milo Maestrecampo as Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Assistant Director General II, while former Customs Deputy Commissioner Gerardo Gambala was appointed as DOTr Office of the Transportation Security Director.
Boh Maestrecampo and Gambala resigned as legislators investigated Customs’ failure to intercept a billion-peso shipment of illegal drugs in May.
Maestrecampo resigned on Aug. 8 to “fight for my honor and integrity and in the name of ‘delicadeza,’” while Gambala filed his resignation in October.
