Angkas no more! Makati shuts down ‘habal-habal’ biz

The Makati Business Permit and License Office (BPLO) on Thursday closed down a transport firm engaged in “habal-habal” or motorcycle-for-hire service for operating without a valid business permit.

The closure order has been issued to Angkas Training Center located at Natividad Building along Chino Roces Avenue in Makati.

The shutdown was made possible through the help of the office of Makati Mayor Abby Binay following the request of Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB), which claimed that the firm had been involved in numerous traffic violations and accidents.

An inspection conducted by BPLO inspectors together with LTFRB and Land Transformation Office and Highway Patrol Group Thursday proved that the firm has been operating without valid permit.
