Bistek wants tourist police unit in Tomas Morato for holiday season
To avert any untoward incident during the holiday season, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista on Wednesday ordered the creation of a tourist police unit in Tomas Morato area, one of the most popular food strips in the city.
Bautista’s directive is also part of the big plan to transform the South Triangle area into a major tourist spot.
He said presence of cops is vital to ensure safety of tourists who dine and hangout in restaurants, bars and other establishments along Tomas Morato.
Bautista said at least 10 operatives from the Quezon City Police District’s Station 10 will be deployed to man the tourist police unit.
The cops will be provided with bikes for patrol and visibility purposes.
In anticipation of the surge of tourists visiting Tomas Morato this holiday season, Bautista ordered sidewalk improvement and installation of additional streetlights and parking lights to light up the area and prevent petty crimes.
