Senator JV Ejercito will not think twice about backing out from his reelection bid if his half-brother, former senator Jinggoy Estrada, decides to run for the upper chamber in the 2019 mid-term elections.

Ejercito and Estrada are sons of Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada with different women: San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez and former senator Loi Estrada respectively.

Ejercito said his father already gave him the green light to transfer to the ruling party, PDP-Laban. The Estradas belong to Pwersa ng Masa (PMP).

Asked whether his father’s blessing to transfer to PDP-Laban was meant to give Jinggoy the chance to run for the Senate in 2019, Ejercito said, “Sana naman ‘wag mangyari ‘yun.”

“Kasi hindi maganda na sabay kaming tatakbo kasi unang-una ‘yung chances na manalo medyo mababawasan kasi mag-aagawan o maghahati kami ng boto,” he said.

Jinggoy is rumored to be running for mayor in Manila in 2019.
