Sleeping with the source: Duterte claims Trillanes got bank records from ex-AMLC exec Julia Abad
President Rodrigo Duterte has tagged former Anti-Money Laundering executive director Julia Bacay-Abad as Senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s source for his bank records.
Facing reporters in Malacañang Wednesday (October 4), Duterte claimed Trillanes was able to get the documents on his bank accounts from Abad because they have an affair.
“Ang lumabas doon nagpindot, pagbukas ng account ko, binigay kay Trillanes, si Abad, who is the mistress of Nograles… ay ni Trillanes. Mali naman. Mistress ‘yan siya ni Trillanes ‘yang Abad na ‘yan,” he said.
Duterte said Trillanes gave the documents he got from Abad to Deputy Ombudsman from Mindanao Rodolfo Elman and Overalll Deputy Ombudsman Arthur Carandang, who’s leading the investigation into Duterte’s wealth.
Carandang earlier said his office has obtained the documents on Duterte’s wealth from AMLC, but the council denied furnishing the anti-graft body with documents.
Duterte said the Office of the Ombudsman cannot use the documents it purportedly got from Abad in prosecuting him because it was allegedly obtained illegally.
He also said he found it funny that Trillanes accused him of having billions in the bank.
“Trillanes computed it on a daily basis. In- out, in-out, in-out. ‘Yung credit, ‘yung debit wala na kaya ganun lumaki, kaya ako natatawa,” Duterte said.
