NPD chief says Kian Loyd ‘politicized:’ Dati kilalang pusher, nung namatay santo na
The director of the Northern Police District (NPD) has disputed reports that 17-year-old Kian Loyd Delos Santos, who was killed in an anti-drug operation in Caloocan City last week.
Chief Superintendent Roberto Fajardo said Delos Santos’ reputation has drastically changed since he died.
“Sa area kilala siya, ang tawag nga sa kanya ng mga tao doon is adik, pusher, ngayon napatay na siya mabait na siya. Lumalabas na sinasakyan na mabait na siya at santo na siya. Pero before that lumalabas na siga, adik, at pusher doon sa area,” Fajardo said in a press conference at Camp Crame Monday (August 21).
“‘Yun ang sinasabi ng mga kapitbahay nila. Unfortunately, na-politicize na mabait na siya ngayon,” he added.
Members of the Caloocan City police claimed Delos Santos shot at them while trying to escape during anti-drug operations on August 16 but surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts show otherwise.
Delos Santos’ relatives and neighbors have attested to his good character, saying he was a studious teenager who was never involved in illegal drugs.
But Fajardo claimed they received intelligence information that Delos Santos was acting as a drug runner. The Caloocan City police has presented a witness who said he had transactions with the teenager.
