Sarcastic remarks! QC administrator makes matters worse over class suspension
Instead of making the situation clearer over the late suspension of classes in Quezon City on Thursday, Alvin Cuna, the city administrator, added more salt to the injury amid his seemingly sarcastic remarks during an interview.
In a DZRH interview in Thursday morning, anchors Joe Taruc and Milky Regonan grilled Cuna over the basis of the decision of Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte not to suspend classes in the city even amid heavy rains.
Seemingly irate Cuna said that the non suspension of classes was based on the 3 am weather bulletin of the PAGASA. However, Regonan was quick to point out that the state weather bureau also issued bulletin at 3:48 am saying that typhoon Gorio has strengthened further.
Cuna still stood by with the decision, saying that they their basis was the PAGASA weather bulletin. This was also the same explanation he gave when he was in Umagang Kay Ganda.
The city administrator was also seemed to be annoyed when Taruc said in jest that Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista was strolling in Japan.
Cuna took the statement with a grain of salt.
“Hindi naman po yata tama na sabihing nagliliwaliw si Mayor Bautista sa Japan, siya po ay nasa isang official business,” Cuna told Taruc.
Taruc said that his statement was supposed to be a joke, however, Cuna said, “nasabi niyo na pong nagliliwaliw, hindi naman tama ‘yun.”
Belmonte was in hot water in social media yesterday over her decision to not suspend the classes.
Belmonte admitted in her Facebook page that she deserved the backlash and the criticisms of her decision, saying that the Quezon City residents need better leader.
The Quezon City government finally suspended the classes later on.
Classes are still suspended today.
