Valenzuela relocates families affected by NLEX project

The Valenzuela City Housing and Resettlement Office (HRO) will relocate 1,000 families affected by the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Harbor Link Segment 10 Project of the Manila North Tollways Corporation (MNTC).

Mayor Rex Gatchalian said affected families from Barangay Karuhatan and Barangay Malinta will be transferred to Disiplina Village Bignay starting July 21.

“Each family will also receive food packs from the City Social Welfare and Development on the day of their relocation,” the mayor said

Disiplina Village is the biggest “in-city” relocation site in the country, with a land area of 111, 293 sqm and is located in Barangay Bignay.

Gatchalian said it can accommodate 3,852 families from informal settler communities living along the Tullahan River, other waterways, and those areas in the city that were identified as “danger zones”.

The village has school, police station, clinic, market, church, fire station, and a barangay hall. It also charges the lowest monthly rental fee compared to other housing projects in the country.
